My visiting program at the University of California, Berkeley, is impressive. The most memorable aspect is the intense collision of Chinese and Western cultures and academies. I still clearly remember discussing Marx's alienation, modern Western societies' unionization and de-unionization progress, poverty, and polarization among rich and poor in my sociology courses in the U.S. All the interpretations and conclusions came from the professors, and articles are significantly distinguished from the information I previously learned from the Chinese high school lectures and General courses in CUHKSZ. The differentiation between Chinese and Western academies evokes my deep rumination and raises questions: How do we regard the West, and how do they regard themselves? How do we consider ourselves, and how do they believe us? Moreover, what role should international students play as cross-cultural transmitters? The reflection caused my long-lasting consideration and impressed me the most.
