Program Overview
Are you a university student ready to dive into the heart of Chinese culture and cutting-edge innovation? This summer, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) invites you to be part of an unforgettable 10-day adventure through China’s Greater Bay Area (GBA) – a region buzzing with innovation, cultural heritage, and economic dynamism.
The Summer Study Tour (SST) Program is your ticket to an immersive experience across Shenzhen, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong – three key cities in GBA that are driving China’s future. As an SST Program participant, you’ll explore a variety of activities tailored to deepen your insights into China:

Application
Eligibility
To apply, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be a U.S., UK, or European citizen aged 18 or older
- Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student currently enrolled in a university in the U.S., UK, or Europe
- Be physically and mentally healthy, with strong adaptability to new environment
- Have an interest in Chinese culture and a willingness to promote cultural exchange between China and your home country
- Be nominated by your home university. (Nomination guidelines have been shared with CUHK-Shenzhen partner universities in the relevant regions.)
Note: Chinese language skills are not required, as all activities will be conducted in English.

- If there are concerns about the application materials, the applicant may be invited to an online interview.
- Admission results will be confirmed on a rolling basis until early April 2025, or until the program reaches capacity, whichever comes first.
Application Materials
*Nominated student will receive an application link from CUHK-Shenzhen to submit the required information and documents
- Curriculum vitae or Resume
- Scanned copy of passport bio page (valid for at least 6 months)
- Latest Official Transcript
- 1*1.5 inches photo (full face with a white background; taken within the last 6 months; accepted format: jpg, png, bmp, jpeg)
Cost & Travel Information
Costs
Most program costs are waived for admitted students, including:
Program-Covered Expenses
- Accommodation: CUHK-Shenzhen Residential College. Lodging will be arranged for 2-4 participants per room.
- Daily Meals: All meals provided throughout the program (group meals or meal coupons redeemable at university dining halls).
- Domestic Transportation: Transportation fees for scheduled events.
- Fees: Admission fees and guided services for scheduled events and visits.
Costs Not Included:
- International Airfare (est. $2000 for a round trip)
- Visa application fees
- Shopping and other personal expenses
Participants are responsible for any medical testing, care, or additional travel costs associated with medical treatment, including, but not limited to, the cost of modifying, extending, or canceling any lodging or transportation arrangements before, during, or after the program.

Health and Safety
We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all participants. By prioritizing health and safety measures, we aim to create an atmosphere where you can focus on learning, cultural exchange, and personal growth with peace of mind.
Qualified medical staff will be available during the program to address any health concerns or emergencies. Participants will also have access to hospitals nearby.
Insurance Requirements
All participants are required to have valid health insurance that covers international travel. It is essential to ensure coverage for medical emergencies, hospital stays, and repatriation in case of unforeseen circumstances.
