This experience has also influenced my future academic and career goals. The exposure to UCSD's rigorous academic environment and diverse cultural setting has broadened my perspective and inspired me to pursue further studies in a global context. I have gained valuable skills in navigating complex academic systems and adapting to new environments, which I believe will be beneficial in my future career.
Most professors had effective study outlines, stuck to their teaching goals, and avoided busy work. UCSD incorporated a class recording system called Podcast during the pandemic, which is still in use. Podcast helped me a lot to review the unfamiliar difficult key points during class. It also surprises me that most of the staff I encountered value how they deliver the course materials to students and constantly reflect on how they can help students learn better. I truly see how the teaching staff are passionate about teaching and the field they study. This dedication made me feel supported and inspired to push my academic boundaries.
During my stay at UCSD, my favorite activity was visiting local cafes to study with friends. La Jolla Shores is a perfect spot for neat cafes and also has beautiful coastlines and sunsets for study breaks. San Diego has pleasant sunny weather almost all year long. During breaks, SeaWorld, Old Town, Downtown, and various eateries offering authentic Mexican, Italian, and Asian food are fun places to visit. One of my favorite activities arranged by the UPS program was the "Day at Mission Bay," where we spent half a day sailing, kayaking, and paddleboarding with friends. Exploring the area with the help of the school's weekly newsletter, which introduces upcoming activities and special events for visiting students, was also beneficial. These experiences allowed me to create wonderful memories and bond with other students, making my stay even more enjoyable.
